The inhabitants of Sambuca have always been labeled with the name "sammucari babbaluciari" (snail visitors) ; They like this name so much that the snail appears all over the city.
It aims to rediscover the value of inertia , the passage of time as seen by a snail, living its life slowly and enjoying it in all its splendor.
One of the proverbs that the people of Sambuca are proud of about snails is: "babbaluci a sucari e fimmini a vasari nun ponnu mai satiati": snails to eat and women to kiss will never fill you up . Eating snails is a cultural and culinary tradition of Sambuca that has continued for many years. A tradition that goes back to the ancient Sicani, who loved snails.
No busts, half busts or commemorative medallions. The snail or Babbalucia is a symbol, albeit ancient, of the cultural identity of the people of Sambuca.
