Here you will find volcanic bombs. A volcanic bomb or lava bomb is a large piece of debris that is thrown into the air during a volcanic eruption and/or carried away by a lahar or lava. During explosive eruptions, a volcano can eject large amounts of debris (clasts) and dust called tephra. The largest chunks are called volcanic bombs , smaller clasts are called lapilli , and the finest material is volcanic ash . Sometimes a clear structure of an impact crater around the bomb can be discovered in the rock, but this does not necessarily have to be the case. A bomb can also roll away after its first impact, or even bounce, if the surface rock is elastic enough.
