Juan Perez Delgado (NIJOTA) lived from 1898 to 1973).
Work commissioned by the Orfeón La Paz de La Laguna by the sculptor Francisco Borges Salas (1901-1994) as a tribute to the journalist and poet from La Laguna.
It was inaugurated on November 9, 1975 and is located in La Plaza de La Concepción in San Cristóbal de La Laguna.
Juan Pérez Delgado was born in the Concepción neighborhood of La Laguna , "during the Cuban War". He studied law, an activity that he did not develop professionally because he devoted himself to journalism, including as editor of the newspaper La Prensa and editor-in-chief of El Día .
He successfully cultivated theater, poetry and stories. His first play , Mariquilla, premiered in 1927 and "El amor en bicicleta" the following year. His humorous verses were widely received by the press and public of the islands.
