The chapel of Sainte-Madeleine forms, with the old refectory, the only remaining building of the monastery of Sainte-Enimie. This monastery, whose influence has marked the region for several centuries, would have been founded in the 6th century by Saint Ilère. Attached to the Benedictine abbey of Monastier-sur-Gazeille (43) in 951, it was one of the most influential monastic establishments until the Revolution
The chapel bears the signature of its time and the wealth of its builders: it is built in a very careful Romanesque style, which can be seen in the precision of the limestone used, and its vault
It is visible through the entrance gate.
