  2. What to Expect from Las Vegas in the Winter Months

    7 January 2025, 20:47

Most people who travel to Las Vegas go during the summer months. Here’s what it’s like during the winter months.

Traditionally, most people who go on vacation to Las Vegas do so in the Spring or summertime. Many travellers are unaware that the temperature in winter is relatively mild and that there’s still plenty to do, whether you are an outdoor thrill seeker or a more laid-back tourist looking for a less adventurous experience. Let’s dive straight in and take a closer look at what you can expect from Las Vegas in the winter months.

What’s the average temperature like in Las Vegas during the winter months?

In the summer months, temperatures in Las Vegas frequently climb above 100°F, and during winter, you can expect average highs of 58°F and lows of 38°F (in December), similar temperatures in January, and anywhere from 42°F and 64°F in February.

In other words, Vegas, which some people still refer to as Sin City, is an ideal winter escape for people who want to avoid the cold, wintry climate at home or those who prefer not to go during the summer months when the heat can sometimes be unbearable.

What kind of activities and experiences can I look forward to in Las Vegas in the winter?

If you are considering visiting Las Vegas in the winter and have wondered what the activities are like at this time of the year, you may be pleased to learn that there’s something for everyone, including indoor and outdoor activities.

Anyone aged 18 or above who likes to play slots online and wants to experience the real thing can visit one of the many iconic land-based casinos on The Strip. Examples include the following:
    ● The Bellagio
    ● Wynn Las Vegas Casino
    ● Caesar’s Palace
    ● Binion’s
    ● Mandalay Bay

Others include the ARIA Resort and Casino, Palazzo, Luxor Hotel & Casino, New York-New York Hotel & Casino, Red Rock, the Golden Nugget, Planet Hollywood, and The Venetian, to name just a few. There’s plenty of entertainment, too, with live Las Vegas residencies hosted by some of the world’s biggest stars (singers, musicians, bands, magicians, comedians, etc.). It’s also home to several cool, quirky, traditional, and unique museums, interesting art exhibitions, and so much more.

Some of the best museums worth checking out are the Mob Museum, the Titanic Artefact Museum, Madame Tussauds, the Neon Museum, the Atomic Museum, and the Bodies Exhibition.

If you want to explore the great outdoors, some of the most popular winter activities in Las Vegas include hiking in Red Rock Canyon or checking out the numerous winter displays, one of which can be found at The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. If you visit Vegas in early January, don’t miss the Chinese New Year display.

    Honourable mentions

If you fancy a swim, don’t forget to check out the Stadium Swim pool complex, which has six huge, heated swimming pools, cabanas, and oversized television screens. You can also skate above the Las Vegas Strip at the Cosmopolitan’s Boulevard Pool, which also features an ice rink. You may also want to visit Lake Mead for a memorable day out, take a day trip to Mt Charleston, or wander around and go shopping in the city.
Exploring the great outdoors is much easier and safer during the cooler winter months when you can count on mild weather. There’s so much to do to suit all types of tourists.

    Final thoughts

As you can see, there’s so much to see and do in Las Vegas from December to February. It’s less hectic, there are far fewer tourists, and accommodation is slightly cheaper in winter. The best thing to do before booking your travel and accommodation is to plan your trip well in advance and try to shop around for the cheapest deals to save a bit of money.
