RouteYou, the company behind the online route platform RouteYou.com, and WayPoint, specialized in delivery and advice on applications for mobile and recreational GPS navigation, have signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the purpose to strengthen the introduction and further development of the RouteYou platform in the Netherlands.
RouteYou aims to become the standard for searching, viewing, download and exchange of recreational and leisure routes for end users and route publishers. One part of RouteYou is an online route planner that enables end users to plan, print and download their own walking, cycling, biking or tourist routes. Over time RouteYou will also make an authoring environment available for professional route publishers. The company RouteYou has been founded in 2005 and has a strong expertise in digital cartography and GPS navigation due the Tele Atlas background of the founders.
Waypoint has been a specialist for six years now on sales of GPS equipment for leisure and recreational navigation and has a separate unit for consultancy of tourist bodies. Together with ANWB, Waypoint recently launched a product range called OnRoute, focused on desktop route planning for car and motor biking.
The strategic cooperation agreement foresees a research faze of three months to explore all synergies between the two companies, after which the cooperation will be further formalized.
