Are you looking for something philosophical and not too light with a link to your hobby 'walking'. Then you should definitely consider 'Walking' by Henry David Thoreau.

Henry David Thoreau was a great advocate for walking at least a few hours a day. In his cult book "Walking" he argues that one should walk 4 hours a day. That way you stay healthy, both mentally and physically. For Thoreau, the walk itself doesn't need a destination, but the activity of walking itself is a goal. Thoreau sees the walker as a Walker Errant, a king in his own world. According to Thoreau, walkers are chosen and called. They do not pursue a hobby, they only exist in walking.

A bit too heavy to read, you can also hear Thoreau's philosophy about hiking via the YouTube link.

Do you rather go for a walk, rather than philosophizing about it?
