The path starts at a small parking lot by Limensgaden, where there is an old burial mound from the early Bronze Age (1800-1100 BC). Back then, the dead were buried unburned in wooden or stone coffins under large, domed earth mounds.
From here, the path leads about 250 m through the Læsådal valley to an old slate and limestone quarry. Here, from 1840 to 1850, alun-slate was quarried for the extraction of alum and limestone for cement production.
The Læsådal valley is protected to preserve landscape values and scientific interests.
