Walk along the stepping stones by Aaby Mose

The tour starts from the parking lot and goes out onto a wide walkway along the historic stepping stones. On the walkway, there is the opportunity to rest at picnic tables. The stepping stones, which lead towards Aaby Bjerg, were created in the Iron Age to facilitate transportation in the swampy terrain. Over time, the high bog overgrew the area and hid the stones. It was only when the bog was drained and cultivated in the early 20th century that the old stepping stones reappeared. The stones lie like pearls on a string in the middle of the stream alongside the walkway.

At the end of the walkway, a footpath continues past Aaby Bjerg, which once was an island in the Stone Age sea. Aaby Bjerg now stands as a small hill with blooming heather in August and September. Continuing further along the footpath, one reaches a large observation platform from which one can overlook the beautiful high bog. At the hill, you can also enjoy the rich birdlife of the area.
