The route is marked with red pictograms and dots, and passes over the refuge fortress at the northeastern end of Rø Plantation. Start at the parking lot by Borgedal Lake. The route goes through hilly terrain in some places.
At the refuge fortress, the route passes through an enclosure where cattle, sheep, and goats can graze during parts of the year.
