Holy Spring Path

The path is, with its approximately 1.5 km, Almindingen's shortest marked hiking route. The route can be muddy in wet weather in some places, and along the way, one must cross the hill Jomfrubjerget.

The route takes its name from one of the places it passes: the old holy spring Koldekilde, or Kollekilde, which is presumably what it was originally called. The spring has had a reputation for having healing powers, at least since the Middle Ages, and likely all the way back to the Bronze Age. The spring was especially visited on Midsummer's Eve when its healing powers were believed to be the strongest. The many visitors to the spring led to the establishment of a spring market at Christianshøj, and this is why Christianshøj has since served as a gathering place for public events up to the present day.

The Holy Spring Path is marked with yellow icons and dots on the trees. The ground can become muddy in wet periods in some places. We recommend starting your trip at the small parking lot by Jomfrubjerget, right next to Christianshøj, or at the parking lot by Åremyr. By bus, you can get off at Koldekildehus.
