Coastal walk from Puertito de la Cruz to Punta de Barlovento

A coastal walk in the most Southwestern tip of Fuerteventura starting in Puertito de la Cruz going up the flat Western coast passing several beaches among which sandy Playa de Ojos until Punta Pesebre on the Northern coast. Next the path follows the Northern coast. It becomes more hilly and stays high above the spectacular rocky coasts of Caleta de Madera and Aguas Cabras to eventually reach Punta de Barlovento from where there is a great view to the Northeast on the Playa de Belovento and the Jandía mountain chain. The path leads through rocky materials which colours take on all shades from the darkest black to white. The yellow limestone rocks are shaped by karst and the strong winds into very odd but beautiful shapes. It is a true pleasure for the eye. From Punta de Barlovento and beyond El Paso, the path more or less stays in a dry riverbed until it reaches the Southern coast. From there it follows the GR 131 back to Puertito de la Cruz. The trip forth and back by car to Puertito de la Cruz on the gravel road is long and a real pain, but the walk along the Northern shore is splendid.
