El Wattenbach tiene su origen en las prealpes de Tux. El Mölsbach y el Lizumbach se unen en el fondo del valle en el campamento de Walchen a una altitud de 1405 m sobre el nivel del mar y forman el Wattenbach. El Lizumbach, que tiene una longitud de 8,1 km, nace debajo del Lizumer Reckner a una altitud de 2419 m sobre el nivel del mar; el Mölsbach es el desagüe del lago Mölssee y mide 5,8 km. El Wattenbach fluye de la Wattentaler Lizum de sur a norte casi en línea recta a través del valle de Wattental. Después de 11,6 km, desemboca en la comunidad del valle de Wattens en el Inn. Con el Lizumbach como el río afluente más largo, alcanza una longitud total de 19,7 km y una diferencia de altitud de 1874 m.
