Wattenbach har sin kilde i Tuxer Voralperne. Mölsbach og Lizumbach forenes i dalbunden ved Lager Walchen på en højde af 1405 m over havet og danner Wattenbach. Den 8,1 km lange Lizumbach udspringer under Lizumer Reckner i en højde af 2419 m over havet, mens Mölsbach er afløbet fra Mölssee og er 5,8 km lang. Wattenbach flyder fra Wattentaler Lizum fra syd til nord næsten lige gennem Wattental. Efter 11,6 km munder den ud i Talgemeinde Wattens i Inn. Med Lizumbach som den længste kilde får den en samlet længde på 19,7 km og et højde forskel på 1874 m.
