El edificio rectangular barroco fue construido entre 1655 y 1658 por el fundador de la fundición de bronce Karl Aschauer von Lichtenturn. En el siglo XVIII se añadió un ala este. Desde 1855, Achenrain está en posesión de los condes Taxis-Bordogna. En el eje central de la fachada principal sobresale una torre octogonal con una cúpula de cebolla. En las esquinas del edificio hay miradores, también con cúpulas de cebolla. El portal está compuesto por un marco en cuadratura y un frontón triangular. En el castillo hay una capilla. Los bancos de oración se hicieron alrededor de 1660.
