El Hochalmsattel es un paso de 1803 m sobre el nivel del mar, separa el valle de Karwendel en el oeste del valle de Johannestal en el este y es uno de los pasos más importantes en Karwendel en Tirol. El valle de Karwendel separa la cadena de montaña del Karwendel del Hinterautal-Vomper-Kette. El Hochalmsattel forma el paso más bajo entre estas dos cadenas.
