De Hochalmsattel is een 1803 m boven zeeniveau hoge pas, hij scheidt het Karwendeltal in het westen van het Johannestal in het oosten en is een van de belangrijkste overgangen in het Karwendel in Tirol. Het Karwendeltal scheidt de Noordelijke Karwendelkette van de Hinterautal-Vomper-Kette. De Hochalmsattel vormt de laagste overgang tussen deze twee ketens.
