El Dominio Provincial Het Leen es un área forestal contigua de 225 ha de extensión, con un arboreto de 3000 especies de arbustos y árboles a ambos lados de la entrada. El nombre hace referencia al término feudal 'leen'. El área inexplorada fue otorgada por los condes de Flandes como feudo a los señores de Spiere-Helkijn, de ahí también el nombre Spiersbos. Desde 1300, la abadía de Drongen y el Hospital de San Juan de Brujas extraían turba aquí. Posteriormente, el área fue reforestada. Desde 1938 hasta 1972, se estableció un depósito de municiones del ejército. Luego, la provincia de Flandes Oriental compró los terrenos para recreación pasiva. El nuevo edificio alberga el centro de información forestal y en los antiguos edificios principales se puede encontrar una colección de herramientas de oficios antiguos.
