El edificio de la estación fue construido en 1884 y se puso en funcionamiento con la inauguración de la línea de tren a principios de 1885. Desde el principio, fue la estación más importante de la zona debido a la gran cantidad de viajeros y a las diferentes canteras y explotaciones forestales en los alrededores. Además de las 2 vías principales, había cinco vías laterales en uso para la estación de mercancías. Dos de estas vías estaban equipadas con una báscula.
