El Zwart Water es un paisaje clasificado con vegetación de pantano y ribera, así como bosque de pinos. La reserva tiene una exuberante flora. Aquí se pueden encontrar fresa de agua, juncos, murtilla, brezo, nenúfar, orquídea de hoja ancha e incluso arándano, oreja de ratón y hoja de brezo.
La reserva también es un importante lugar de cría para aves. Podemos encontrar sosos, carboneros, pato de invierno, pato de cola de espolón y verderón.
