El museo está ubicado en la casa residencial protegida del pintor Edgard Gevaert. Su esposa Marie abrió el taller tras su muerte: la gente podía ir a ver obras de su marido y de su padre, el escultor George Minne. Tras su fallecimiento, el municipio de Sint-Martens-Latem compró la casa y estableció el museo Gevaert-Minne. También encontrarás obras de otros artistas latenses.
Gevaert construyó su singular casa él mismo en los años 1920: se pueden ver elementos góticos y características del entonces popular estilo cottage.
