Manderfeld se encuentra a varios kilómetros de la frontera belgo-alemana en el área natural de las Altas Valles, a una altitud de entre 540 y 670 metros. En los alrededores nace el Our. Si ha caído suficiente nieve en las Altas Valles, Manderfeld ofrece algunas instalaciones de deportes de invierno. Hasta el final de la Primera Guerra Mundial, pertenecía a Alemania, pero como resultado del Tratado de Versalles, pasó a ser parte de Bélgica en 1920 como parte de los llamados Cantones del Este, la región alrededor de Eupen, Malmedy y Sankt Vith.
