Booitshoeke fue una parroquia en 1190, después de haber pertenecido anteriormente a la de Wulpen. Una antigua mención del nombre del lugar data de 1239, como ‘Boidenkinshoucke’. Hasta 1566 perteneció al obispado de Terwaan, después al obispado de Ieper. El pueblo fue saqueado por el ejército español en 1659.
