Tilleur formó parte desde antiguo del dominio de Avroy. Aquí descansaba el cuerpo de San Huberto, antes de ser entregado a la Abadía de San Huberto. En el siglo IX, el obispo de Lieja también donó Tilleur a esta abadía. A principios del siglo XIV, el abad de la Abadía de San Lorenzo fundó en Tilleur el Hospital de San Jorge. En 1603, Tilleur fue comprado por Jan Curtius.
