Tilleur gehörte früher zum Domänen von Avroy. Hier verweilte die sterbliche Überreste von St. Hubertus, bevor sie an die Abtei St. Hubertus übergeben wurden. Im 9. Jahrhundert wurde auch Tilleur von dem Bischof von Lüttich an diese Abtei geschenkt. Zu Beginn des 14. Jahrhunderts wurde durch den Abt der Abtei St. Laurentius in Tilleur das St. Joris-Hospital gegründet. 1603 wurde Tilleur dann von Jan Curtius gekauft.
