Tilleur faceva storicamente parte del dominio di Avroy. Qui rimase il corpo di San Huberto, prima di essere trasferito all'abbazia di San Huberto. Nel IX secolo, il vescovo di Liegi donò anche Tilleur a quest'abbazia. All'inizio del XIV secolo, l'abate dell'abbazia di San Lorenzo fondò l'ospedale di San Giorgio a Tilleur. Nel 1603 Tilleur fu acquistata da Jan Curtius.
