En el siglo XIII, aquí había un castillo que servía como residencia de verano para los abades de la abadía de San Bavón de Gante. El príncipe obispo checo Ferdinand von Lobkowitz añadió a finales del siglo XVIII establos, dos invernaderos y una valiosa colección de plantas exóticas. Charles Vuylsteke convirtió el castillo en una empresa de horticultura alrededor de 1870, dando así inicio al cultivo de azaleas y begonias en Lochristi. El castillo y el parque solo se pueden visitar en grupo.
