Agujero Azul, corredor verde
El Pequeño Nete nace en una zona de turbera en Mol y fluye en diagonal a través de nuestra provincia. Se fusiona como un río de mareas en Lier con el Gran Nete para formar el Nete Inferior.
Un afluente importante del Pequeño Nete es el Bollaak. Este arroyo alberga numerosas especies de peces raros, incluyendo el pez sapo de río. Este pequeño pez no tiene vejiga natatoria, por lo que pasa su vida en el fondo. Durante la búsqueda de alimento, utiliza sus aletas pectorales como remos. Al igual que la perca, hace un nido y cuida a sus crías. Debido a su presencia, Europa ha designado el valle del Pequeño Nete como área de la Directiva de Hábitats para mayor protección.
El valle del Pequeño Nete se utiliza como ruta migratoria por todos los animales y plantas y también como ruta de migración por aves. De este modo, se reconectan poblaciones aisladas.
