La iglesia fue construida para el barrio residencial Het Rad. En 1901 ya se había construido una iglesia, que sin embargo - debido a la expansión de la construcción - pronto se volvió demasiado pequeña. En 1939 se estableció la iglesia actual. A raíz de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, el edificio aún no pudo ser completado. Solo en 1951 se bendijo la iglesia.
