La mina de carbón de Waterschei fue una de las siete minas de la cuenca carbonífera de Kempen. Esta mina de Kempen estaba situada en el distrito de Waterschei de la ciudad belga de Genk. La concesión para la explotación de carbón fue otorgada el 1 de agosto de 1906 con el nombre de concesión André Dumont-sous-Asch, abarcando 2950 hectáreas, que se amplió a 3080 hectáreas en 1912. El capital de la sociedad explotadora, Société anonyme André Dumont-sous-Asch, posteriormente abreviada como Charbonnages André Dumont, estaba principalmente en manos de empresas belgas y ricos industriales belgas.
