La columna de Victor Hugo es un monumento situado en el borde del campo de batalla de Waterloo, erigido en 1911-1912 con motivo del 50º aniversario de la estancia del poeta y escritor francés Victor Hugo en Waterloo, Bélgica. Victor Hugo tardó cuarenta y cinco años en visitar el lugar de la batalla. Durante su estancia en Bruselas en 1837, escribió: "No quería ver Waterloo. Consideré innecesario hacer esta visita al Lord Wellington. Waterloo es para mí más horrible que Crécy." Los famosos versos "Waterloo, llanura triste" del poema "La redención" fueron escritos en Jersey entre 1852 y 1855, cuando Hugo aún no había visitado Waterloo. Hugo llegó el 7 de mayo de 1860 a Mont-Saint-Jean y permaneció allí dos meses en el Hôtel des Colonnes. Allí completó la escritura de "Los Miserables."
