En dirección a Zingem - Steenweg 1 - se encuentra la antigua casa de pobres. Fue fundada en 1863 por Sabina De Groote, quien desde 1836 era viuda de P. Fr. De Bock. Originalmente fue administrada por laicos, hasta que en 1896 fue asumida por los religiosos del Sagrado Corazón de María de Nederbrakel. Hasta 1927 funcionó como hogar de ancianos. Actualmente es propiedad del OCMW y se utiliza regularmente como espacio de exposición por el IERMA (Ideas y Expresiones del Arte Moderno Real). Edmond de Perre-Montigny fue el arquitecto. En la fachada principal hay una placa con el texto: 'fundada por la Señorita Sabina De Groote, esposa del Señor P. FR. De Bock, fallecida en Asper el 30 de abril de 1836'. En Asper, el edificio es conocido como el Hof van de gebroeders Vandenberghe', un antiguo propietario.
