El cementerio de Virton se encuentra entre la Rue des Combattants y la rue Marechal Foch. Ferdinand Foch fue un mariscal francés, nacido el 2 de octubre de 1851 en Tarbes y fallecido el 20 de marzo de 1929 en París. Perteneció al Estado Mayor del ejército y además fue académico francés. Fue el comandante en jefe de los aliados en el frente occidental durante la Primera Guerra Mundial.
El monumento, ubicado en el césped del cementerio municipal de Virton, consiste en una columna prismática de 3,50 m de altura con una urna en la parte superior.
En la placa conmemorativa se pueden leer los nombres de 8 residentes de Virton que murieron por su país, una antorcha tallada en piedra y la frase: "La ciudad de Virton a sus hijos que murieron por la patria".
Sin embargo, las ceremonias y conmemoraciones oficiales se llevan a cabo frente al monumento del ayuntamiento de Virton.
