La subida al Drielandenpunt desde el lado belga también es conocida como Côte des Trois Frontières, o Côte des Trois Bornes, o Vaalserberg-West. En cualquier caso, es el lado más bonito del Drielandenpunt para escalar: desde hace unos años, el pavimento está en excelente estado, el tráfico es mucho más tranquilo que en el lado neerlandés, y la carretera tiene dos curvas cerradas donde a principios de 2015 se talaron muchos árboles, lo que permite disfrutar de las vistas durante la subida.
Por cierto, el Drielandenpunt en años anteriores (de 1816 a 1920) fue un Punto de Cuatro Países, cuando después de la caída de Napoleón, los Países Bajos y Prusia no se pusieron de acuerdo sobre una valiosa mina de zinc en el lugar de Kelmis en la entonces comuna de Moresnet. Así se fundó el Estado enano Neutraal Moresnet, que estuvo bajo la supervisión de comisionados neerlandeses, belgas y prusianos.
