El ayuntamiento de Charleroi, inaugurado en 1936, es un edificio monumental clásico con acentos de Art Deco gracias a sus líneas geométricas y el juego de materiales: mármol rojo y negro, bronce, latón, hierro forjado. El interior está decorado con numerosas estatuas que quieren exaltar el triunfo de la ciudad, su prosperidad y su riqueza industrial. Solo la sala del concejo municipal contiene una obra pictórica en siete paneles, a la que se han añadido siete vitrales con el escudo de los cantones del distrito de Charleroi. Una obra maestra de la arquitectura civil, el ayuntamiento tiene su campanario en la lista de Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO. Clasificado como monumento por decreto ministerial del Gobierno de Valonia (09-09-2001). Incluido en la lista de la P.E. de Valonia. Campanario inscrito en la lista del Patrimonio Mundial (diciembre de 1999).
