El dominio del castillo Baudries se encuentra al noreste del pueblo de Dikkelvenne, cerca de Gavere. El 'Bien de Baudries' ya fue mencionado en el siglo XIV como un feudo de la señoría de Gavere. Como el representante más antiguo de la señoría 'Baudry', se conoce a Jan Sloeve, concejal de la ciudad de Gante, y posiblemente el primer propietario del dominio desde 1305 hasta 1320. Esta familia patricia mantuvo la propiedad hasta el siglo XV. Con la llegada de la familia van Spangen, el dominio permaneció en la familia durante 14 generaciones. Tras el colapso de los cimientos de la antigua iglesia de Dikkelvenne, ubicada en el barrio de Rotse, en 1820, la condesa pidió prestado dinero y cambió un terreno del dominio del castillo con el municipio. En este lugar se construyó la nueva iglesia de Dikkelvenne y posteriormente también creció un nuevo núcleo de pueblo.
