En Kallo hay dos campos de juncos: el Rietveld Kallo (47 ha) y el adyacente Groot Rietveld (80 ha). Ambos albergan numerosas aves protegidas, peces y anfibios. A través de muelles puedes sumergirte en el área y desde el mirador de aves en un nivel más alto tienes una hermosa vista de toda la zona. El Groot Rietveld es más antiguo que el Rietveld Kallo. En los densos juncos se esconden aves cantoras y especies de garzas amenazadas, como el búho de los juncos. Los caballos konik salvajes pastan principalmente en las partes secas y rellenadas del área. Su pastoreo ayuda a mantener el tapiz verde de estos terrenos arenosos. El foso de defensa 'Het Lange Eind' y el resto de la fortificación 'Put van Fien' fueron elementos de conexión importantes en el cinturón histórico de fortificaciones y línea de defensa alrededor de Amberes.
