La avenida Kardinaal Cardijn se está construyendo como La calle del futuro, un proyecto modelo para nuestra ciudad. Además de la construcción de un sistema de alcantarillado separado, la imagen de la calle también cambiará drásticamente, con estanques de agua, amplios canales y mucha vegetación. La sección entre la calle Pater Segers y la calle Schongaustraat se convertirá en un área residencial con sentido único para el tráfico motorizado. En la pradera se habilitarán espacios de juego y descanso, y algunos cruces se diseñarán como pequeñas plazas. En un camino de concreto de cuatro metros de ancho, zigzagueando a través del parque verde, son los peatones y ciclistas quienes marcan el ritmo de la velocidad.
