Justo después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, de 1944 a 1946, aproximadamente 100 000 prisioneros de guerra permanecieron en Vloethemveld. Para pasar el tiempo, hicieron obras de arte con material de demolición.
Se han conservado tres obras de arte : San Jorge y el Dragón, Marianne y la placa del campo de prisioneros de guerra . Se han reunido bajo un dosel en el edificio de recepción de Kamphuis, para que se puedan ver bien y estén protegidos contra las heladas, la lluvia y otras condiciones climáticas.
La placa del campo de prisioneros de guerra (POW = Prisonners of War) es una losa de hormigón que lleva, en pequeños mosaicos de ladrillo, la inscripción "2226 POW CAMP". La placa solía estar en la entrada de POW CAMP 2226, cuya entrada estaba ubicada aproximadamente frente al depósito de municiones.
