Unmittelbar nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, von 1944 bis 1946, blieben etwa 100.000 Kriegsgefangene im Vloethemveld. Um sich die Zeit zu vertreiben, fertigten sie Kunstwerke aus Abbruchmaterial an.
Drei Kunstwerke sind erhalten geblieben: Heiliger Georg und der Drache, Marianne und die Gedenktafel des Kriegsgefangenenlagers . Sie wurden im Empfangsgebäude des Kamphuis unter einem Vordach zusammengefasst, damit sie gut einsehbar und vor Frost, Regen und anderen Witterungseinflüssen geschützt sind.
Die POW-Lager-Plakette (POW = Prisonners of War) ist eine Betonplatte, die in kleinen Ziegelmosaiken die Aufschrift „2226 POW CAMP“ trägt. Das Schild befand sich früher am Eingang des POW CAMP 2226, dessen Eingang sich ungefähr vor dem Munitionsdepot befand.
