A lo largo de la 'Ruta de la Capilla' en Lichtervelde se encuentra el pequeño monumento en memoria de Jim Cowan, quien se estrelló el 3 de octubre de 1918. Está ubicado cerca de la torre de emisiones de Lichtervelde en el punto más alto del pueblo y junto al Huweynbos.
Una cruz de campo con crucifijo, llamada la cruz de Verduyn, que se encuentra en la calle Beveren en Lichtervelde cerca de la granja 't Kolonhof. Frente a la cruz hay una superficie pavimentada que está cercada con una reja. Dos placas junto a la cruz hacen referencia a un avión de guerra británico que se estrelló aquí el 3 de octubre de 1918. El piloto australiano Jim Cowan estaba enterrado junto a la cruz en ese momento.
