El Posthoorn fue originalmente propiedad del alguacil Willem de Clerck , quien estableció su corte en el edificio.
A partir de 1588 se instaló nuevamente allí el monasterio de Bethaniën , hasta 1783, cuando se abolió la orden monástica bajo el dominio francés y la propiedad pasó a ser propiedad privada. Como se ha visto muchas veces, la comunidad monástica compró el monasterio.
Parte del edificio fue comprado por JF Scheppers, quien lo transformó en la cervecería De Posthoorn.
