Capilla de las Siete Dolores: Antiguo lugar de reflexión
En la intersección de Kapellekensbaan - Dendermondsesteenweg llegamos a una de las siete capillitas históricas dedicadas a las Siete Dolores de María.
Según la tradición, existe desde el siglo XVI. La capilla actual, dedicada a “La indulto de la cruz”, lleva el año 1776 y fue restaurada en 1806, 1958 y 1989.
La capilla de una nave está construida en ladrillo rojo anaranjado con un tejado a dos aguas de pizarra y está flanqueada por pilares de arenisca. La puerta de arco apuntado, enmarcada con ladrillo decorativo, lleva la inscripción:
“O.L.V. Ter Nood – No pongas pie aquí, o reza un Avemaría.”
En el interior: una bóveda azul con estrellas doradas, paneles de madera y una moderna Piedad de Staf Peleman en reemplazo de la escultura del siglo XVII robada.
