El bosque estatal de Galm es, junto con los lagos más grandes, la única área de Suiza que no está asignada a ningún municipio. Pertenecen directamente al cantón, a diferencia de las comunas en el cantón de Ticino, que son de propiedad comunitaria de varios municipios.
El área de Galm está bajo la soberanía directa del cantón de Friburgo. Tiene una superficie de 257 ha y se encuentra en el distrito de los lagos. El número de BFS es: 2391
