El Valle de Óxido comienza en Oker, un pequeño pueblo industrial al este de Goslar, y se extiende más allá de Romkerhall hasta el embalse de Óxido. La presa de 260 m de largo se construyó en la década de 1950 para la prevención de inundaciones y la producción de energía. Unterschulenberg y Mittelschulenberg desaparecieron para siempre bajo la superficie del agua. La leyenda dice que a veces se puede distinguir una torre de iglesia en el embalse, que se puede oír el repiqueteo de campanas... Schulenberg en sí fue completamente reconstruido.
