El Spree se retuerce aquí en dos curvas, formando una especie de 'omega', y sobre esas dos curvas se extiende a la izquierda el nuevo Bundeskanzleramt. Muy simbólica es la idea detrás de esto: conectar riberas, construir puentes, este y oeste que se encuentran aquí, no se puede pedir más. Tal vez la opinión de los berlineses cambie con el tiempo, pero así como se hablaba bien del Reichstag restaurado, este edificio gubernamental iniciado por Kohl se consideraba megalómano. Se ha convertido en un complejo alargado de edificios y puentes, que aun así se ve elegante debido al color y a las enormes cantidades de aire entre la piedra. La entrada se encuentra en el lado del Reichstag.
