Kaltennordheim es una ciudad situada en el distrito de Schmalkalden-Meiningen, en el estado federado de Turingia , a una altitud de 440 metros. Su población a finales de 2016 era de unos 3 400 habitantes y su densidad poblacional, 83 hab/km².[1][2][3]
Dentro del distrito, la ciudad es la capital de la mancomunidad de Hohe Rhön, de la cual forma parte junto a cuatro municipios vecinos.[4] El municipio incluye las pedanías de Aschenhausen , Kaltenlengsfeld , Kaltensundheim , Kaltenwestheim , Melpers , Mittelsdorf , Oberkatz y Unterweid . Antes de las fusiones de 2019, la ciudad pertenecía al distrito Wartburgkreis, pero el 1 de enero de 2019 pasó a Schmalkalden-Meiningen al pertenecer a este distrito los municipios incorporados ese año.[5][6][7]
