Pobershau es desde el 1 de enero de 2012 un distrito de la gran ciudad de Marienberg en el distrito de Erzgebirgskreis en Sajonia. El municipio que hasta entonces había sido autónomo se encuentra en la Ruta de la Plata.
Pobershau se sitúa en el valle del río Pockau Rojo, un afluente del Pockau Negro y se extiende a ambos lados del río.
