El ayuntamiento de Soest, que aún hoy es utilizado por el consejo municipal y la administración de la ciudad, se encuentra entre los pocos edificios barrocos representativos entre las numerosas construcciones históricas de la ciudad de Soest. El ala barroca simétrica, considerada especialmente hermosa por los observadores, con su vestíbulo de nueve arcos, es la parte occidental de un complejo de cuatro alas, cuyas distintas construcciones se levantaron en diferentes siglos.
