Ya en el siglo XV existía un castillo de agua "Haus Beck". El edificio actual fue construido entre 1766 y 1771 por el más conocido maestro barroco de Westfalia, Johann Conrad Schlaun, como un palacio de placer para Friedrich Florenz Raban von der Wenge.
A finales del siglo XVIII, el barón Clemens August von der Wenge, hijo del propietario, operaba una fábrica de aguardiente en la finca. Tras la muerte de su hijo Friedrich Florenz Raban von der Wenge, lo heredaron los descendientes de su hermana Maria Franziska y su esposo Maximilian Werner von Wolff-Metternich. En 1958, la empresa minera Hibernia adquirió el área con el edificio del castillo.
